After over a decade at adidas, working closely with world-class photographers, videographers, and creative freelancers, I’ve seen both sides of this industry—the beauty of collaboration and the brutal reality of how hard it can be to get connected. Creatives are often left chasing inconsistent work, relying too heavily on word-of-mouth, and struggling to stay visible. On the flip side, clients—whether individuals, brands, or small businesses—are constantly asking, “Who do you know?” and jumping through hoops just to find someone local.
I found myself in that exact situation.
I had an urgent project in Portland and needed a photographer. I spent hours combing through Instagram, texting friends, checking referrals—nothing. I came this close to flying someone up from L.A., because I couldn’t find anyone in my own city. Only at the last second did that same L.A. photographer connect me with someone local. Problem solved? Technically yes. But it took way too much time, stress, back-and-forth, and almost a ton of extra money. All for something that should’ve been simple.
That moment lit the fire behind MEDIA 3 APP.
